010 Riding A Bus

Every tuesday and thursday Alfred doesn't have the time to pick Dick up from school. 
Bruce's proposition was to take a taxi home, but Dick didn't really trust taxi drivers.
He's not sure why. Maybe it had something to do with Bruce's paranoia. 
Maybe him and Bruce had gotten kidnapped way too many times while driving a taxi. 
The price you pay when your guardian is a known celebrity. 
So Dick decides he will be taking a bus ride home. 
What he didn't think about is that the ride from the middle of Gotham to the very last stop will take even 2 hours. And it's the rush hours so it's really crowded. And It's not cold yet outside, so people are sweaty. What was he thinking?!
When he walks in, he immediatly gets pushed in the corner, by the widow, next to some red head. And then the bus moves suddenly, and half of the people fall backwards into other people, and he gets squished beetween the red head, and some other guy's sweaty armpit. He hears the teenager chuckle nervously, as he tries to back off and give Dick some space. 
'Hi. Sorry about that. It's always like that on this stop. I'm Wally' He introduces himself.
And seeing as they are standing so close to each other, and Dick didn't think about taking headphones with him today, they talked. 
Turns out Wally goes to Gotham West. Third best school that Gotham has to offer. 
He moved here a couple of years ago, and managed to get a scholarship. Unfortunatelly, he lives on the other side of town, so he also has to spend a lot of time in the bus. 
Wally rides along with him for an hour and a half. He gets out on third to last stop. 
Dick finds that he might actually have fun while driving the bus for so many hours. 
They promise each other to meet at the bus on thursday. 
And they do. 
They play games like 'I spy', they talk about movies they liked or didn't like, about their plans for the future. 
They don't talk about the bruises they have. Dick hides the bruises he got from bullies, while Wally's come from someone else, he doesn't like to talk about. He doesn't seem to like to talk about his parents at all. 
He loves to talk about his Aunt and Uncle from Central City though.
After a while they get close, and Dick actually looks forward to those bus rides.
On some days they get so immersed in talking that Wally misses his bus stop. So he goes with Dick to the last, and then waits for the bus to turn around and take him back to the city. 
Sometimes Wally misses his stop on purpouse. 
Later they start meeting outside the bus. They go out to cinema, to dinner, for ice cream. Wally even visits Dick at his home at some point. 
Traveling by bus can be really terrible sometimes.
It's very important to have good company during the trip. 
And Wally and Dick are glad they found each other.
